Ajmal has provided leadership and innovative direction to government and non profit organizations having mandates of social and economic development through his work as middle and senior manager, consulting assignments, voluntary work and research studies. Committed to the model of cooperative development of communitieshe has not only been associated with different organizations both in Canada and abroad but also lives in a housing -Sunnyhill Housing Cooperative, Calgary since 2015. He has helped organize, democratize and empower community based organizations in the mountainous areas and plains of Pakistan as well as immigrant communities in Canada through leadership roles and use of tools such as skill based trainings, microfinance, pooling of resources, democratic decision making and conflict resolution techniques, innovative technologies and inclusive products. He has conducted consulting assignments for Asian Development Bank, US Agency for International Development (USAID), Department for International Development (UK) and Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA) directly or through their funded projects. He holds a Masters in Development Planning (Practice), University of Queensland, Australia a Masters in Economics from Pakistan. He is also a qualified medical doctor with a passion to contribute for social change, community empowerment, and public health of the marginalized communities. He likes to see himself as a tackler of problems with collaborative local solutions which are sustainable. He has lived, travelled and worked in Canada, UK, Australia, USA, South Asia, China, Thailand, South Korea and Philippines. Currently responsible for interprovincial coordination of policy issues on behalf of one of the four provincial governments in Pakistan, he has earlier served as Additional Chief Secretary (Energy), Secretary Elementary and Secondary Education and Director General of teacher training and educational development academy. He is associated with Four Worlds Center for Development Learning, Cochrane and has been teaching contracts and quality management at Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT), Calgary.
